FiWiClassifieds today officially re-launched their website with updated features to align classified ads to today’s social media and mobile device trends. Founded in Kingston Jamaica in 2009, FiWiClassifieds continues to be a completely free classified ads service but is now poised to elevate the decade-old sales concept to appeal to the high-tech generation of consumers.
The major update to the website is the integration of social media to enable users to tap on their social networks to draw a broader audience to their listed ads. Called “Social Boosting”, advertisers send a tweet through their Twitter account mentioning FiWiClassifieds and in return, the company increases the ranking of the ad to make it more visible to visitors. The company also uses Facebook and Pinterest to promote ads to their followers as part of their new strategy of amplifying ad visibility through popular social media channels.
“Our social media integration is a mutually beneficial feature; Advertisers help us spread the word about the website, and we give them their ads greater visibility,” said Omar Robinson, General Manager at FIWiClassifieds. “We believe that social media will elevate classified ads, and bring some much-needed modernization to this online service.”
The refreshed FiWiClassifieds website also features a mobile-friendly interface to cater to the growing number of people visiting the website on their smartphones and tablets. “With an estimated 100 million tablets sold in 2012, and the overwhelming number of smartphones users today, the amount of mobile web traffic is set to rise and companies who are slow to acknowledge the trend will quickly fall behind,” commented Omar Robinson. Interaction on the new FiWiClassifieds website is now vastly improved with a responsive web design that automatically resizes and rearranges content to fit the screen it is being viewed on.
One additional feature on the new FiWiClassifieds website is a tutorial blog to help users navigate classified ads, and gain insight into safe and effective buying and selling practices. Articles such as ‘Tips for first-time homebuyers’ and ‘Tips for car buyers’ are free to access, and the blog will be periodically updated with relevant articles to enhance and simplify the classified ads experience.
